Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategy: A strategic leader at the company, working closely with founders and the leadership team, he/she will build and drive both short and long range governmental affairs strategy and program execution, applying business objectives and assessing all risks and opportunities of potential scenarios
  • Governmental relations: Represent the company in all public sector engagement, crafting and then executing on ByHeart's public policy goals; build and maintain a network of relationships on Capitol Hill, in state legislatures, and within relevant federal- and state-level governmental agencies; maintain an effective internal database of these contacts; monitor and comprehensively track all relevant legislative and rulemaking activity that could impact the company, providing regular updates to internal leadership team
  • Elevate ByHeart's profile with thought leaders and policymakers: Work closely with PR, brand and other cross-functional teams to convey ByHeart's core messages to policymakers and ensure that narratives about the company, its people, and its products are accurate and compelling to government audiences; identify and execute on opportunities to use policy positions to reinforce ByHeart's brand to consumers and policymakers alike
  • Manage external partners: Manage lobbying firm and other external partners, as appropriate
  • Reporting: An analytical and KPI-driven leader, he/she will develop KPIs for their work that latter up to the goals of the company, and report on results

Skills & Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant government and/or government affairs experience (federal government experience preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Background in FDA matters or baby & parent products a plus
  • Strong networking capabilities to develop working relationships externally and within organization
  • Strong experience in strategic planning for various government related objectives
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced and energetic environment
  • Out of the box thinker with the ability to be flexible
  • Team player with the desire to work in a collaborative and cross functional environment

The minimum annual salary for this position is $230,000 and the maximum is $260,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of New York City will differ. Additionally, you will be eligible for a discretionary performance based annual cash bonus and to participate in our company's equity program, plus our robust medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits.
