Role Description
Location: Portland, Oregon
Start Date: ASAP
The Material Handler accurately moves raw, packaging and finished materials as needed. This includes issuing and staging raw materials and packaging to a job before production occurs, loading and unloading shipments, or any other reason from the Warehouse Supervisor. The Material Handler will assist in the cycle count/inventory accuracy program as needed.
Role Responsibilities
• Read production schedule, work order(s), shipping/receiving order(s) to determine items to be moved or distributed, daily
• Receive inbound deliveries and/or stage and load outbound deliveries - Complete all documentation as required
• Pick materials from pick lists and deliver / transfer to production staging areas
• Maintain perpetual inventory log and manage all materials movement within the ERP system
• Perform daily forklift checks against PMs schedules
• Rotate/store stock according to date coding and allergen protocol
• Return all remaining materials from production runs back into inventory and finalize control documents on said changes (additions/deletions) as required
• Maintain a vigilant posture and practice on personal safety and product integrity
• Follow proper sanitation procedures as described in the associated SOP
• Maintain all associated work areas in a clean, neat manner during the entire shift
• Safely handle chemicals and effectively clean all designated plant areas properly if assigned
• Attend all company mandated training sessions - these include Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, etc.
• Can perform minor maintenance on associated equipment
• Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
• Must be self-disciplined, a team player, and be able to handle emergency situations common to the operation
• Safely and professionally operate a stand-up, reach and sit-down forklift
• Communicate in a clear and transparent manner with all team members
• Consistently execute duties and decisions in a timely and efficient manner
• Must follow all written and oral instructions and takes direction from Warehouse Supervisor
• Embrace/foster new questions, change and innovation in our workplace
• Look for opportunities to improve, acquire new knowledge and skills
• Act professionally at all times in language, appearance, conversations, etc.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Food manufacturing or infant formula manufacturing experience preferred
• Previous forklift experience required, more than 3 years preferred
Physical Requirements
• Able to lift 50 lb./25 kg bags or drums during the batching and bagging process.
• Need ability to stand, crouch and climb to perform adjustments to equipment, use ladders, and perform various types of manual labor
Regulatory Requirements
• Adhere to all safety policies, procedures and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements including HACCP, SQF, OSHA, GMPs, on-site SOPs, etc.
• Will comply with all applicable federal, state, and local standards for the manufacture of infant formula and other non-infant nutritional foods.
